Gamebook Friday: La Nuit du Nécromancien released today!

La Nuit du Nécromancien, the French edition of my most recent Fighting Fantasy gamebook Night of the Necromancer is released today! And it's already garnered its first 5-star review in French!

And here's that 5-star review!

Hmmmmm après le génial Howl of the Werewolf du même auteur j'avais peur d’être déçu avec ce livre et... Non !

Which I think (or at least Google Translate thinks, with a little grammatical and punctuational input from me*) translates as:

Hmmmmm after the brilliant Howl of the Werewolf by the same author I was afraid to be disappointed with this book ... But no!

Already the hero himself is not trivial (who has never dreamed of donning a P. Swayze ghostly form and returning for revenge)?

The powers are not inborn and can either be won with help or after a successful test. Each can greatly aid the hero even...

What fun it is to find the famous Knights of Telak (mentioned in Knights of Doom).

As with Stormslayer you can choose predefined characters or make a drawing with the old dice. (Unfortunately not VF)

The illustrations are beautiful although slightly below the standard of HOTW. (I nitpick, they are good) and contribute to the atmosphere of the book.

However, for those who do not like it there's a good amount of codenames (I suggest you make a grid type A = 1 B = 2 ... Z = 26), fortunately names are not too long... Jonathan Green is part of the best authors LDVELH.

Now if someone can just enlighten me as to what LDVELH means...

French fans of my gamebooks should definitely check out my Gamebook Adventures app, Temple of the Spider God, available now from Tin Man Games in French a Le Temple du Dieu Araignée.

It's been quite a week for French releases of my gamebooks. First there was Le Temple du Dieu Araignée on Tuesday, the release of La Nuit du Nécromancien today, and on Wednesday I discovered that another of my titles is going to be coming out in  French in the not-too-distant future. But more news on that later...

Until next time...

* And some bits edited out completely because they just didn't make any sense at all.

LDVELH is an acronym for "Livre Dont Vous Etes Le Heros" :)
